Help girls and young women find their voice

Girlguiding exists to help girls and young women find their voice, and build skills and confidence – inspiring them to discover the best in themselves and empower them to make a positive difference in their community.

Our strategy contains three goals, and in order to achieve them we need to be able to hear what our girls and young women in Somerset are saying about our organisation and the things we offer; and enable them to share their opinions and ideas outside of Girlguiding and influence their local communities, our County and beyond.

Who would suit this role?

We are looking for a volunteer who is passionate about this area of work and is interested in helping us to consult with our current and future members about what they want us to provide as a County. They also need to support our girls and young women to influence decision makers outside of our organisation.

What skills are required?

Excellent communication skills are key for this role – you will need to be able to engage with both adults and girls in Girlguiding Somerset in a variety of different ways and using different platforms. You will also need to be able to talk confidently about Girlguiding to people outside of our organisation, explaining what we do and what our values are; and explore how our members can get involved and help influence community decisions and projects.

Team work is also important for this role, as you’ll be supporting, and being supported by, a number of our County Advisors and Coordinators as well as our Commissioners at all levels.
