My INTOPS journey so far … Poppy

Why did you apply for INTOPS?

To have an amazing opportunity to go abroad; as I enjoy travelling, to make new friends and to step outside of my comfort zone.

What did you enjoy the most about the County selection weekend?

All of the activities and cooking.

How did you feel when you found out you were selected for county or region or both, selections?

I felt very proud of myself for getting selected for the regional trip and then proud and very excited about getting selected for my 1st choice option. I was proud; as when I am around people I don’t know; I can be quiet and socially awkward.

What trip have you been selected to complete, and what are you most looking forward to?

I have been selected to go on the INTOPs Croatia 2026 trip, most excited about the opportunity to go to Venice, water sports and the boat trip to hopefully see dolphins (I love animals).

It’s still early days but what is the best advice you would give to someone contemplating applying for INTOPS?

Give it a go, it is a nervous but enjoyable experience; different to normal guide camps; as it will test you in different ways. It’s all about working together, making friends and experiencing something new.

What fundraising approach have you taken, and how is it going?

My fundraising has been going well; I have been able to do some cleaning for family which they have been paying me for. I have done a couple of car boot sales, selling things on Vinted (either my own items or things given to me by family members). I have also done a Christmas Fayre; where I made homemade decorations and jams to sell. Also I have had a birthday recently, so I put 50% of this towards INTOPs fund & will do similar with any Christmas money received.
