### **Adventure Abroad with Your Unit**

Experience the sights of another country, taste the food, and speak the language. Follow this guide to embark on your international adventure!

### Timeframes

* **9-18 months before the trip:** Leader in Charge must have or be working towards necessary qualifications (Section Leadership & Section Going Away With, and Travel Abroad).
* **12 months before the trip:** 
* **9 months before the trip:** 
* **8 weeks before the trip:** REN (International Residential Event Notification) must be signed off.
* **4 weeks before the trip:** 
  * International Health Form & Consent Form must be received, reviewed, and stored.
  * The trip commences.

### Key Steps and Considerations

**Planning and Preparation**

* **Permission to Plan:** Must be submitted to and signed off by the County Commissioner and County International Advisor. 
* **International Residential Event Notification (REN):** To be submitted electronically, updated as needed, and resubmitted.
* **Risk Assessments:** International Risk Assessment Checklist must be completed.
* **Planning:** 
  * Logistics: Travel, accommodation, food, sight-seeing, activities.
  * Fundraising, meetings, social media, clothing and kit, first aid, challenge badges, budget control, customs, language, charter, FCO, GOV.UK.
* **Insurance:** Must be in place before any bookings are made.

**Parent and Guardian Involvement**

* **Parents Meeting:** To discuss plans, share updates, answer questions, and provide documentation.

**Formalities and Documentation**

* **Forms:** International Health Form and Consent Form must be received, reviewed, and stored.
* **Qualifications:** All leaders in attendance must have or gain required qualifications.

**Post-Trip**

* **Feedback:** Collect feedback from participants and leaders to inform future trips.
* **Finances:** Finalize accounts.

**Additional Considerations:**

* Passports, GHIC, briefing weekends, badges, first aid, challenge badges, budget control, customs, language, charter, FCO, GOV.UK.
