Unfortunately sailing with Somerspirit remains on hold until club restrictions are eased, and we assess the implications of the RYA’s guidance. However we thought we’d bring you a round of up of news while we wait.
Maintenance work at Sutton Bingham
Ash and Paul have both been out at the club to check on our sailing boat. Paul has been busy volunteering with colleagues at the club to maintain the site.
From the archives
During Lockdown, our County President and Somerspirit Chair, Margaret Maltby, has been looking through an her old ‘Guiding’ magazines.
Here we are in a double-page spread back in 1996. The dinghy has been carefully maintained, and is still going strong. We do, however, have new sails, sheets (ropes) buoyancy aids and of course, uniforms!

‘I’ve been Sailing’ Badge
During lockdown last spring we went through the many entries for our ‘design a badge’ competition. The winner has now been chosen and badges ordered. We can’t wait to announce the winner and share the new badge with you!
Stay in touch
We’ll let you know via our Facebook and Twitter pages as soon as we can invite Brownies, Guides and Rangers to sail safely again.
See you soon!
